The origins
Princess Baudry had fled Moscow and its revolutionary unrest for Epernay. A strong and bold woman, it was there that she founded the house that was to become Baudry Lebrun & Cie. The house was then acquired by one of Epernay’s oldest wine making families, the Lombard family, and remained under their ownership until it was bought by the Chancel family in 2002, owners of the prestigious Chateau Val Joanis (www.val-joanis.com) in the Rhone Valley. Carrying on the legacy After the acquisition of Baudry Lebrun & Cie by the Chancel family, considerable investments were made to bring back the house to its former lustre. As a symbol of this rebirth, the name was changed to Louis Barthélémy. |
